how to connect two laptops with lan cable

A lan cable is an Ethernet cable that connects computers and other devices to a network. Though there are many types of cables, the most popular among them is the lan cable. In this blog post, you'll learn how to connect two laptops using a LAN cable. Here's what you need:

- LAN Cable

- Two Laptops with WiFi disabled (wireless connections will interfere with the connection)

- access to your router settings page

Step 1: Connect The Lan Cable To Your Router

Plug one end of the lan cable into your router's WAN port. Then find where on your laptop the LAN card is located and plug the other end of the lan line into it. This is the computer with the LAN card, which has to be either Mac OS X or Windows.

First of all, you'll have to make sure that you have it enabled. On a Mac you have to edit your network settings by going to System Preferences > Network. Go the Edit button next to your connection and select the Advanced option. On Windows go into your PC's properties and find the networking tab on your bottom right screen. There will be a tick box for "Internet Connection Sharing" in it's properties tab at the top of your screen. Make sure this is enabled by ticking this box and pressing Apply .

Now that you have enabled Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) on your router, open your browser and log into your router's settings page. This is done by going to your router's IP address (usually 192.168.1.1), by typing in the URL displayed in the top of the page or by using a website such as

192.168.1.1

Go to the File Sharing tab and find the SSID ," "name," or "guest" option, depending on what your router is using. When you've found the SSID on your router's website, start typing it in to find where it is on your screen. You will see either a green light or a red light depending on whether it can connect to your internet connection or not, as shown in this picture:

If none of these lights are green, try moving your lan cable around or check your internet settings again because something might be wrong with them. If you already have a wireless router, see how you can disable WiFi.

On Mac OSX, go to System Preferences > Network to configure the lan cable's settings. You will see two options: WAN (internet connection) and LAN (local network). Make sure that the WAN is selected in WAN and LAN are selected in LAN . Otherwise, your lan cable won't work. Also, make sure your internet connection is turned on. On Windows, go to Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections tab, click on Edit Connections , then double click the LAN option so it turns green again. Next select "Use an Ethernet connection" from the drop down menu for Lan Connection .

To start sharing your internet connection, right click on the wireless icon next to the clock and click Open Network and Sharing Center . This will open a window that contains several links. Click on "Change adapter settings". Right click the lan cable connection that is connected to your router and select properties . On the new window select sharing . Tick "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection", then for Home networking connection , choose Wireless-N (which is likely standard for your router). Under Home or work network select both checkboxes, release and renew it.

When you share you internet connection, Windows will automatically make a troubleshooter to solve any possibly problems you might experience.
